Cauliflower Steaks with Capers, Anchovy and Raisins

Just wanted to share a quick post of a side dish I made for Passover midweek dinner. I found the recipe at Bon Appetit. Crispy Cauliflower with Capers, Raisins and Breadcrumbs was the original title. I cut the cauliflower as steaks as you see above and roasted at 400F for a few minutes longer. I also used Matza breadcrumbs instead of regular. It was a pretty elegant presentation though not on the plate shown above. I couldn't resist re-purposing the plate for this shoot, my recent prop purchase.
Check out the nutritional value and some fascinating health benefits of cauliflower on Whole Foods site.

  4. Yes! This is a pairing i know will work beautifully without even tasting it. Oh the briny capers and the fishy anchovies... That and some roasted cauliflower... bringing out it's natural sweetness. Brilliant.

  5. I absolutely adore cauliflower. i am loving the idea of pairing it with capers. As a matter of fact I think it would be perfect with the gravy from my "Königsberger Klopse" recipe (recently posted on the blog)

  6. The colors (to me) is a reflection of what Catholics are celebrating tonight, the Last Supper of Christ. Solemn almost, and beautiful as always.

  10. I really discovered cauliflower last year and some weeks I eat it compulsively. What a gorgeous and tasty recipe Shulie! The best vegetarian steaks. And I love raisins too. Though I never seem to be able to get such flawlessly white cauliflower heads...

  11. That Cauliflower is just beautiful Shulie! I love that you can do so much with Cauliflower. I pretty much replace potato with it in everything! Roasting is definitely the best thing to do with it. Must try along with breadcrums and capers next time. I usually do cumin or garlic.
